We’ve played this song a few times in the last couple of months, so I thought I’d share it here.
1 2 3 4 1 2 3 & 4 & E------------|--------------------| B-12-12-12-12|12-12-12------------| G-15b16-15b16|15b16-15b16r15-13-11| D------------|--------------------| A------------|--------------------| E------------|--------------------| 1 2 3 & 4 & 1 2 & 3 & 4 & |---------11------|---------------------| |---12-14----14---|---17----17----16----| |13-------------16|---------------------| |-----------------|14----14----14----14-| |-----------------|---------------------| |-----------------|---------------------|
There are other ways of playing this, of course, but this feels the most comfortable for me. You could play the opening m2 unison bend on the E & B strings in 7th position, but it doesn’t feel quite as natural. It may be different for you.
Bending with precision is really critical. If you put too much pressure on the strings you will bend too far. It’s really easy to overcompensate on the bends, so you’ll need to work on developing your muscle memory.

I’m actually working on that bend this week. I had a rehearsal on Mon and I kept bending it sharp. I usually play it on a different guitar I guess. Time to burn it in my brain and finger!
What do you play for the chorus? I had the hardest time picking out the lead line over the keys and noise in the background. I came up with something that I’m pretty sure isn’t in the recording but works. We’ll see how tab translates in the comment, I’m playing around with:
1 & 2 1 2 3 & 4 &
e–14—-14 –14–14–14—-14—
b–11^12-12 repeat 6x –14–14–14p12-12p11
g–11—-11 –11–11–11—-11—
something like that anyway.
ummm, that got butchered. The B string stayed right and just imagine the e and g string are only played on down beats…
I basically strum these upper voicings with eighth notes during the chorus.
I think that this is pretty much what they do on the recording. It’s probably not exactly right, but it’s close.
What key is this for? We are playing it in A and I don’t have time to figrue it out myself for that key so I figured I’d find it online and than transpose.
This is in the key of B, like the recording. If you want to play it in A, just move everything down a whole step (two frets).
Thanks
Playing this this weekend and the 1st place I come to look for RSB is here.
You never disappoint
always glad to be of service, man.
I am the drummer on our worship team and I would like to teach this song to my 9 year old son. He has the intro down and thanks to Phillip we have something for the Chorus. He plays lead guitar and I think he has been given a gift. (But of course, I’m Dad) Feel free to check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yywAVn0te7k Anyway, any tabs or guidance would be aprreciated. Thanks.
