I made a little video demonstrating latch mode on the M13. I haven’t really tweaked these tones yet (especially the overdrive/distortion) so it’s a little rough right now. However, you can see the possibilities that this setup affords. Let me know what you think.

I like it!! Couple of questions: 1) what video editing tool are you using? 2) How are you miking the setup for the video/audio recording?
(just got a new mac and am trying this out myself)
I like the particle verb bit. Great idea… gonna add that to my list.
Very nice. I think I’m going to have to play with it all more. The latch mode is exactly what I want from my M9 unit.
Thanks for posting.
Larry – I’m using the built in iSight camera on my MacBook in iMovie. I miked the cab with an SM57 and used my PreSonus Firebox for the audio interface. I have a much nicer HD camera, but I haven’t figured out a way to use it without having to use the camera mic. I figured that the audio is more important than the video for this demonstration. As long as you can tell what I’m doing with my foot, then all is good.
Like I said, these scenes need a lot of tweaking, but the possibilities are definitely there. It’s gonna be awesome with my Sig:X. I want to get one of these Mini Amp Gizmos that will allow the M13 to switch channels on the amp instead of having to use a dedicated footswitch. Basically, you can configure the Gizmo to switch channels on the amp whenever you change to a different scene on the M13. That is pretty freaking awesome, IMO.
Awesome. I definitely need to invest into learning about this latch mode. I think I would be quite happy with it considering I generally go for certain effects working in unison. This will actually free up space and allow me to use more effects at once. Very nice.
What kind of expression pedal are you using? The wife got me the line 6 one. It’s small which is nice, but feels very plastic-y and so-so cheap. I’m not so sure the transition is really smooth on it with changes from heel to toe, although I haven’t spent a whole lot of time with it.
Also, with regards to the camera, try hooking it up your macbook and use that to record video with your current audio set up. Also, if possible, can you give the mic a little more gain when recording? I had to hook it up to some monitors and crank it up to hear what you were playing.
Awesome.
I’m using the Boss FV-500H for my expression pedal. It’s actually a volume pedal, but it works as an expression pedal. It’s got a very long sweep and it’s pretty much indestructible. It’s very solid. I could probably jump up and down on it if I wanted to.
I have tried just about everything that I can think of to get the camera to work with the MacBook, but it doesn’t seem to work like I want it to. There’s probably some software app that will fix my problems, but I haven’t found it yet.
As far as the audio – I realized that it was set pretty low late in the process. The next video will be better in just about every regard. Hopefully.
Thanks for the comments, guys.
Just curious… what are you using for this “Thick Lead” setting?
